For large-scale UV systems incorporating multiple UV channels the power supply of the UV system is realized through separate Distribution Power Supply Cabinet. In the cabinet there are overcurrent protection fuses, main power switch and power switches for each UV bank. The electricity requirements for UV system are 380 V/3 phase / 50 Hz. From the distribution power supply cabinet there are electrical connections to the electronic ballast cabinets, water level control system, motor drives of the shut-off sliding gates and the cleaning system.

Electronic ballast cabinets are installed near each UV bank above the channel. Each UV module is connected to the electronic ballast cabinet through a pair of waterproof plugs. High efficiency electronic ballasts are installed inside the cabinets. Each cabinet has a small LCD display to provide the information about UV module and UV lamp status in respective UV bank.

All open channel UV modules are equipped with modern, industrially manufactured germicidal lamps that were developed by LIT engineers especially for wastewater disinfection. Newest amalgam high intensity lamps have three times more UV intensity than conventional mercury low-pressure lamps. LIT amalgam lamps have long service life: more than one year of continues operation. Low depreciation of UV radiation intensity at the end of lamps life and increased stability over water temperature variations guarantees effective disinfection during the lamp's life . The spectrum of UV lamps is optimized for germicidal effect.

Each OMP UV module comprises of high power low-pressure amalgam lamps arranged in two vertical columns. The UV lamps are sealed in quartz sleeves which are placed in a horizontal position, parallel to the wastewater flow in the channel. UV modules can be removed from the bank independently from each other by hand or with auxiliary hoisting device. A group of lamp modules are known as a lamp bank.
