The Pirarucu is one species that presents the best prospects for the creation intensively. It has high growth rate and can reach 10 kg in the first year of creation and ease of being trained to accept extruded feed.

The Arapaima has a huge economic potential due to its abundant meat, almost boneless and low in fat. Their habitat is the dark waters and waters of the Amazon, not being found in areas with strong stream, possessing great diversity of food habits and behaviors.
