^{As it can be preserved for a period up to 4 months, those who like to take it warm, it should be kept in Microwave for 1 to 2 minutes only (those who like it hot can put it for longer time ,  but not recommended as Halwa is sticky and may cause burning).}

^{How it served locally: Halwa is usually served warm in a dist (a large earthenware bowl) which can vary in size and composition according to demand or type of occasion. Halwa is invariably served at times of joy or sorrow and, on religious occasions and festivals. It graces the tables of every Omani home. Others like it hard (by keeping the warm halwa for a period not less than 10 days at normal room condition).}

^{After cooking, the halwa can be preserved for more than four months without losing its quality, and without the need for refrigeration or preserving agents.}

^{Ingredient: The main ingredients which go into the making of halwa are: starch, eggs, sugar (brown), water, ghee, saffron, cardamom, nuts and rose water or honey. The ingredients are mixed, in proportions and quantities known only to the skilled halwa maker, and cooked in a Mirjal (large cooking pot used especially for halwa) for a time of not less than 2 hours with a non-stop and continues twirl of the mixture to avoid burning of the ingredients.}

^{Halwa mean sweets: it is a sticky sweet gelatinous substance. Omani Halwa is famous at home and abroad as a symbol of traditional Omani hospitality. It is usually served in Omani homes before drinking Arabic coffee, with visitors and family members. Happy occasions can not be held without having a desert from Halwa.}
