As presented in the chart above, annual saffron production in Greece is 5.7 tons, Morocco 2.3 tons, Kashmir 2.3 tons, Spain 1 ton or less, Italy 0.1 ton or less.
Iran, having the highest production rate, comes first and the other countries mentioned above are ranked second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Iran has a plantation area of about 36724 to 41325 hectares and an annual production of 150 to 170 tons and more than 80% of the worlds saffron production. Iranian saffron, regarding its quantity
and quality, stands at the top in the world.
