GALANGAL

Galangal is an annual plant that has underground stems known as rhizomes have definite joints and segments. The skin colour is light brown while that of the flesh is creamy-white. It has a pleasant aroma. Galangal is usually added in tom yam, larb, tom kha kai, khao tom pla. Galangal is grown in all regions of the country. It is extensively grown in Ubon Ratchathani, Prachin Buri and Nakhon Pathom provinces. The plant is propagated through rhizomes.
