SAFFRON is a well-known spice due to its remarkable flavor, perfume, and color. It named from the Arabic za'fran, and comes from the stamens of the Crocus Flowers. Having been spread by eastern winds across Persia into the Mediterranean, this flower grows wild in many places from Iran to Greece, Spain, Italy and France.
It makes even today one hundred thousand flowers to produce one kilo of dried spice. All of which has to be hand picked!
Today, SAFFRON is being used in different types of food, beverages, and confectionary products by the chefs and confectioners all over the world.
SAFFRON contains Vitamins B1, and B2, IRON, POTASSIUM, and is good for the Nerves System. Curing, Asthma, Cough and Colds. It is exhilarant and sexually Stimulating and helps reducing cholesterol level in the blood. It is also good for treating Alcoholism, Acne and Skin Disease. Two compounds in Saffron are supposed to increase anti-bacterial and anti-viral physiological activity in the body. Keep it air tight and away from the light.
