Chile currently ships 130 different types of pork, fowl, beef and lamb meat products to 50 countries. Sales in 2006 stood at US$567 million. Such outstanding export performance is the result of a sustained industry expansion process which has made it possible to increase export volumes, product range, and destination markets.

Chile's animal health status is unique in the hemisphere and quite exceptional internationally. Chile is free from all animal diseases in List A of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), including Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE). It is free from the avian flu and has stringent health barriers in place to keep this and other diseases out.

 The efficiency and genetic quality of the Chilean poultry and pork industry easily meet or exceed First World standards. The industry uses sophisticated technology to produce a wide range of high quality products. Its vast production experience, well-honed competition skills and capacity for innovation have been key in its efforts to homogenize health and quality standards and secure access to discriminating markets.
