Tea (Camellia sinensis) is an important plantation crop cultivated for its tender leaves (two leaves and a bud). Harvesting is most important cultural operation, which involves the regular removal of young shoots comprising an apical bud and 2 or 3 leaves, immediately below it. The harvested green tea shoots are transferred to the factory to manufacture black tea either by the CTC (Crush, Tear and Curl) or the orthodox method. The processes involved in the manufacturing are withering, rolling; roll breaking, fermentation, drying and sorting, and grading. The black tea or made tea is sold loose or in packets, under different brand names
