These components are reported to lower Total and LDL cholesterols and trim down platelet aggregation; lower blood pressure. Inhibit pathogenic bacteria responsible for food poisoning and promote acidophilus (friendly) bacteria. Green tea extract finds relevance in health and functional foods, toothpaste, mouth fresheners and cosmetics/shampoos. It is also reported to improve colour stability in natural food products. Recently green tea is reported to be used for weight reduction due to the presence of triterpene saponins.
