Green Tea

Introduction :
Tea, the most ancient beverage mankind has been enjoying, is still the most popular drink in the world. In India, it is grown in an area of 5.10 lakh hectare. Since the first auction of Assam Tea made from indigenous plants held in London in 1839, tea plantation in India has been contributing immensely towards the socio economic development of the people of the tea growing regions of the country. Tea industry contributes substantially towards the national and state economy by way of enriching the foreign exchange reservoir and State exchequer besides employment . Today the major tea growing states are Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal are also traditional tea growing states, albeit to a less significant extent. Besides, tea plantation has come up recently in states like Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Bihar, Orissa, etc. Mizoram has also the potential for development of commercial tea plantation. Indian scenario :
India is one of the major tea growing countries of the world, producing about 28% of the world production annually. The other leading producers are China, Kenya and Sri Lanka. Area under tea plantation (as in 2001) in major tea producing states of the country is as follows

PLANTATION / ESTATE
The estate gardens are located in different elevation witch enjoy different weather conditions favorable for tea cultivation. Nilgiris is gifted with a perfect climatic condition witch is best suited for producing one of the worlds finest teas. The gardens are well maintained and looked after with good agricultural practice. Organic cultivation is practiced in all the gardens to produce a safe drink free of any harmful residue. Soil conservation practices are followed to safe guard the environment. Different verities of tea plants (clones) are cultivated which helps us achieve the desired combination of Strength, Flavor and Taste

Not only does India produce the most tea in the world, it grows some of the very best. Nearly every part of the country has a tea-growing region. Approximately 4% of the national income of India comes from its Tea; there are over 14,000 tea estates. The geography of India allows for many different climatic conditions, and the resulting teas can be dramatically different from each other. There are 3 main kinds of tea produced in India:
