An estimated 75 % of Assam Tea is produced from July to September, when plantations are drenched in the Monsoon torrent. tea plants in this region are predominantly `Assam Indigenous and `Assam Hybrid.

The land of the Brahmaputra and the one-horned Rhino became famous for its full-bodied tea and now boasts of the largest area under cultivation in the world. In 1823, the English explorer Robert Bruce discovered the Tea plant growing wild in the hills of the North Eastern state of Assam. The rest, as they say, is history quite literally. Assam Tea, Indias first offering too the tea-drinking world, was and still is in a league of its own.
