CTC is an acronym for crush, tear and curl. These are very popular with the Indian palette for they produce the strongest brew in the traditional Indian method of brewing tea. In the CTC production process, the tea is passed through mechanical rollers that crush and tear the leaves and finally roll them into little balls. CTC teas are fine and granular; they steep readily in 2 to 3 minutes and they're ideal for blending and especially for tea bags. CTC tea is ideal for a quick brew, colorful liquor and strength.
