Function: Zeaxanthin is the pigment that gives paprika, corn, saffron and many other plants their characteristic colors. It is one of the two carotenoids contained within the retina of the eye. Within the central macula, zeaxanthin is the dominant component, whereas in the peripheral retina, lutein predominates. Some studies support the view that supplemental lutein and/or zeaxanthin help protect against AMD (age-related macular degeneration). There is also epidemiological evidence that increasing zeaxanthin and lutein intake lowers the risk of cataract development. Zeaxanthin acts as a strong antioxidant due to conjugated double bonds and hydroxy. Our product is extracted from Marigold Flower, it can also be used in Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical, Cosmetic and Food.
