CNC machining centers continue to grow in popularity due to
its flexibility in applications and the ability to process various materials, including composite
panels, solid wood, plastic and other nonferrous materials.
The trend toward mass customization is also fueling this demand.
"Very few companies today produce large quantities of production, resulting in
the need for flexibility, easy to configure and change CNC machines," said Jeff Conger, product manager for Stiles Machinery
Inc. Weeke
Bill Blackmon, product manager for Casadei-BUSELLATO BUSELLATO, agreed. "The economic crisis has forced companies increasingly take jobs that involve smaller quantities or custom products.
CNC machining centers are essential for the production of these products with short delivery times, high quality and lower cost required
by the customer today, "he said.
"Machining centers capable of performing multiple operations on the workpiece is the best way to manage the size of smaller lots associated with mass customization,"
agreed Larry Tolbert, sales representative for systems of solid wood. "It is
very inefficient to move the pieces across multiple machines, adding extra settings
on each machine," he said.
