Character: Yellow crystalline powder. mp 220-223 °C. alpha -252 º . refractive index -253 °. Water soluble. pH of 2% aqueous solution: 2.1 - 2.3. solubility  H2O: 10 mg/mL as a stock solution. Stock solutions should be filtered sterilized and stored at −20°C. Stable at 37°C for 4 days.

Usage: Antibiotic substance produced by Streptomyces spp. Antiamebic; antibacterial; antirickettsial.

Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotics, high concentration of a bactericidal effect, in addition to the common Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria and anaerobic bacteria, most of the Rickettsia genus, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, non- Typical Mycobacterium, Treponema, Actinomyces, Bacillus anthracis, Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, Clostridium, slave card genus sensitive to the chemicals.
