Fairdene Lodge is a lovely residential care home in Brighton and Hove, where the team are dedicated to compassionately looking after older people dealing with dementia type illnesses. Kindness, sensitivity and respect are at the center of what we do at Fairdene Lodge, and guiding our residents live life their way is the value around which we've developed our philosophy.
Our team believe in promoting independence, recognising personal fulfilment, and providing everyone in our care the freedom of choice. Fairdene Lodge is a loving home, and commitment has gone into making sure that everything from food to activities, to the decoration of private and communal rooms makes our residents glad, comfortable, and satisfied.
To us, it's essential that residents feel as comfortable as possible, which is why thought, care, and also input from residents themselves has gone into the decoration of each and every one of our 28 bedrooms. We're able to accommodate up to 32 people, and every door is properly numbered. With permission, images can be attached to aid orientation.
Focus on navigation all over the home is a top priority that runs throughout Fairdene Lodge, with all 5 reception rooms separately themed so that residents can enjoy different surroundings.
Reception rooms are also furnished with dementia friendly rummage boxes, book cases, hat stands and areas of interest. These include classic type items to bring on memories of one's past.
Residents choose on how to spend their day, and there's a wide range of activities available to them, such as singing, films, exercise, arts and crafts, and themed events. Reminiscence sessions are held to urge residents to recall their pasts, and meetings are often held to continually improve the activities programme.
Trips and walks are regularly scheduled, and our staff always makes an effort to encourage individual's hobbies and interests outside the home where possible.
