Foot Valves Installation
The foot valve is required to be installed at the bottom of the well suction line piping

A foot valve should be installed at the inlet to the suction line of the turbine, centrifugal, and jet pumps. If an additional flanged check valves is required, it should be placed after the
pressure tank to allow the pump and discharge pipe to remain pressurized.
To prevent sand and sediment from entering the pumping system, the foot valve/strainer should be at least 5 ft. (1.5 m) above the bottom of the well.
