Injection Molding Process
What is injection Molding
Injection molding is the process of obtaining moulded products via injecting heat-molten plastics into a mould. Then cooling parts down and solidifying them in the cavity. The way is applied for
the high volume of products with complex forms and is largely involved in the field of plastic industry. The injection moulding method consists of 6 main steps as follows. The method is carried out
as described above and the products are carried out in succession by repetition of the run.
How does injection molding work?
The injection molding process consists of six steps: 1. Clamping 2. Injection 3. Dwelling 4. Cooling 5. Opening 6. Ejection. Each stage is indispensable and needed to be set with the right
parameter.
Clamping
A molding machine has three basic components: the mold, the tightening unit, and the injection unit. The high-resistance clamp works by keeping both halves of the injection mold together during
injection and cooling. Tightening is carried out with the help of hydraulic or electrical pressure.
Injection
The plastic granules pass through a hopper above the injection plant. The granules are supplied into a cylinder for heating up to melting. A motorized screw, or ram inside the heater cylinder then
blends the molten granules and forces the liquid polymer to the tip of the cylinder. After a sufficient amount of material has built up in front of the screw, the injection molding process begins.
The fusion plastic is injected into the mold through a spruce tree, whereas the pressure and speed are driven via the screw.
Dwelling
The Dwelling stage increases the pressure during the injection. When the melted plastic has been inserted into the mold, a pressure is suitable for ensuring that all cavities in the mold are
filled. This part of the injection molding process allows the construction of moulded parts' total wall thickness.
Cooling
The cooling step of the injection molding process makes it possible for the molded part to cool properly. Cooldown times depend on the thickness of the parts.
Opening
The mould splits when the clamping pressure clears. When this happens, the mould is divided in two halves.
Ejection
The mold is ejected with a rod and ejection plate to eject the new high resistance finished part generated. Unused carrots and couriers can be recycled to be reused for subsequent production
cycles.
Injection Molding FAQ
Q
What plastics are used in injection Molding?
A
Crystalline Plastics, Amorphous Plastics, Imidized Plastics, Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Polyoxymethylene (POM), Polystyrene (PS), Resin, Nylon,
Polycarbonate, Thermoplastic Rubber, Fiber Reinforce Plastic, Glass Filled Nylon, Acrylic, Polymethyl Methacrylate(PMMA), Polycarbonates (PC), High-density polyethylene (HDPE), Liquid Silicone
Rubber.
Q
What are the applications of injection molding?
A
The injection molding enables the production of high-quality and complex plastic components. We are involving in medical equipment, automotive components, electronic appliances, agricultural
equipment and construction components, and general consumer goods.
Q
What size of parts are you able to produce?
A
The clamping force of the injection machine is 60-1000 Tons in our production. The range of size is from very small to large.
Q
What is the distinction between injection molding and 3D prints?
A
3D printing and plastic injection molding are two useful processes in themselves. 3D printing gave engineers the power to create plastic drawings on their desks and implement them within hours.
Injection molding is also a benchmark for quality and value. It is widely used to produce large volumes of products with complex shapes.
Q
What are the advantages of injection molding?
A
1. Greatly efficient-The injection molding process provides rapid, high-efficiency production
2. Complex shape & Detailed features- The intricate and complex shapes are designed and produced with high pressure during molding. Otherwise, the cost will be too expensive and the work will be
too hard to make it.
3. High-performance strength- The polymer in the screw has been decreased the density by the pressure. To make the parts to be strong and durable.
4. Suitable for Multiple Raw material-Can be used in a variety of industries. Automobile, healthcare, electricity, agriculture.
5. Automating to reduce production costs.- The injection molding with machines and robotics is an automated process. It helps to reduce produced costs and time.
Q
How much does plastic injection moulding mould cost ?
A
Before taking into account the plastics used to create a part, it is first necessary to determine the price of the mold that forms the product. The cost of tooling may between $1000 to several
thousand dollars which are calculated by how complex the parts are.
